Bentham (Secretary): The Quartz Net

Silver Palace has revealed the official character title page for Bentham, confirming her class as Secretary of the UMI Board Office and placing her within an organization called the Quartz Net.

Silver Palace Bentham Secretary character title page, official character art of the UMI Board Office secretary framed with Quartz Net branding

Who is Bentham?

"Could this be the pinnacle of power? Is that all there is? Well then, the question now is—how may I break free of this trivial system?"

The title page's flavor text sets out her character in full:

Secretary of the UMI Board Office.
A kind and well-mannered professional, she holds great power behind the scenes as she pulls the strings.
Her childhood dreams are now a driving force that propel her to ascend ever higher, and the rot of ambition spares none.
And those who remain strong, marching ever on into the future, are never truly innocent at heart.

That framing (a polished professional who quietly pulls the strings) lines up with how she has been read since her first appearance. The site's earlier piece on who Miss Bentham is covered her role in the July 2 gameplay PV, where the Detective questions her over a missing Reactor.

Her character page frames her as an administrative power broker rather than a frontline fighter, and confirms her as a playable 4-star Glacies character with an Outlaw Identity who fights with a whip and bladed boots.

Personality: A kind, well-mannered professional who quietly pulls the strings, propelled ever higher by ambition.

Appearance: Official art shows a composed woman with light purple hair in a tailored dark jacket and a flowing scarf.

What the title page tells us

The title page formalizes two pieces of Bentham's in-universe identity that had not been stated outright before:

  • Class: Secretary. Her official role is Secretary of the UMI Board Office, positioning her as an administrative power broker rather than a frontline fighter.
  • Title: The Quartz Net. The banner across her title page reads "The Quartz Net." Her character card lists that as her title rather than an organization, with her affiliation given as the United Mining Industry, one of the corporate powers sketched out in the Silver Palace factions guide.

The flavor text leans hard into ambition and hidden influence: someone who is kind and well-mannered on the surface while holding "great power behind the scenes." The closing lines ("the rot of ambition spares none" and "never truly innocent at heart") read as a deliberate flag that Bentham is not the straightforward professional she presents as.

Bentham as a suspect

That undertone matters because Bentham has already been at the center of fan theorizing. The site's phantom thief theory laid out a point-by-point case for reading her as a thief operating inside Silvernia, built on an overlooked beta-test line. Nothing on the title page confirms that theory, but the emphasis on pulling strings from the shadows does not contradict it either.

Her connection to a missing Reactor from the July 2 PV, plus her newly confirmed Quartz Net affiliation, keeps her firmly in the "person of interest" column rather than the innocent-bystander one.

Title page reveal

The title page was posted to the official Silver Palace channel on July 9.

Inside Bentham's Character Page (Beta)

A test build of Silver Palace has surfaced showing Bentham's full in-game character page. It is split into five tabs, Identity, Methods, Motive, Psyche, and Simulation, and it puts real numbers to the kit the title page left blank. Everything below carries a "test version" watermark in-game, so treat the values and effects as pre-release and subject to change before launch.

Identity

The Identity tab sets her Combat Style as Outlaw and her role as Resonance DPS. Her kit deals Glacies (ice) damage throughout.

Methods

Bentham Secretary Methods skill tree in Silver Palace, showing Hidden Blade, Spot Check, Unflinching Order, Emergency Meeting, and Set Schedule

Methods is her active skill set, built on a Funds and Liquid Assets economy: Basic Attacks bank Funds, skills spend them, and Liquid Assets fuel her enhanced attacks.

  • Hidden Blade (Basic Attack): A combo of up to 4 hits dealing Glacies DMG, granting 1.5/3.2/6/10 Funds per hit. After a Parry it chains into the 2nd hit of the combo; after a Perfect Dodge, a heavy attack grants 4 Funds and chains into the 3rd hit.
    • Charged Attack: Hold Dodge or Basic Attack to draw out a Contractual Circle.
    • Signature Move: Inside the Contractual Circle, hold Basic Attack for a Multi-Hit Combo (0.3 Funds per hit). It consumes 1 Liquid Asset for increased Glacies DMG, and consuming 6 in a row triggers an additional attack.
    • Parry Attack: Inside the Circle with more than 1 Liquid Asset, press or hold Parry for up to 3 hits, each consuming 1 Liquid Asset and granting 1 Fund, with incoming DMG negated during the attack.
    • Pursuit Attack: After Dodging, press Basic Attack for a Pursuit Attack dealing Glacies DMG and granting 2 Funds on hit.
  • Spot Check (Skill): Consume 40 Funds to glide at speed, dealing Glacies DMG along the path and gaining 2 Liquid Assets. Press again to spend 40 more Funds for a follow-up (another 2 Liquid Assets), which chains into the 3rd hit of the Basic combo. Caps: 80 Funds, 1 Fund gained per second, 6 Liquid Assets.
  • Unflinching Order (Ultimate): At full charge, call upon several Security Personnel for a barrage of indiscriminate fire, dealing massive Glacies DMG.
  • Emergency Meeting (Tactical Assault): Switch her in with sufficient Reactor Energy to unleash a flurry of blade strikes, dealing Glacies DMG.
  • Set Schedule (Passive): Grants 40% Amplitude Multiplier on Tactical Assault plus an extra 10% on skill use, up to a 40% cap lasting 6s. Glacies Resonance Effects also deal 2 additional instances of Glacies Resonance DMG.

Motive

Motive is Silver Palace's equivalent of a weapon: an equippable that raises a character's stats and adds a passive effect. Bentham slots a Motive matched to her Outlaw Combat Style.

Psyche

Bentham Secretary Psyche tree in Silver Palace, showing six nodes from Orchestrator to Aloof Balance

The Psyche tree is her advancement path, six nodes that deepen her Liquid Assets loop and damage:

  • I. Orchestrator: Bentham gains 1 Liquid Asset when the 4th hit of her Basic Attacks connects. With enough Funds on that hit, she can spend 1 Fund for an extra strike dealing Glacies DMG and gaining 2 Liquid Assets. Tactical Assault grants 4 Liquid Assets.
  • II. Meshing Gears: Increases her enhanced Charged Signature Move DMG by 10%.
  • III. Curse of Knowledge: Using her Ultimate grants 6 Liquid Assets; a follow-up attack after a skill grants 1 more.
  • IV. Price of Ascension: Hitting an enemy with a Basic Attack raises her Charged DMG by 20% for 6s, stacking up to 2 times.
  • V. The Invisible Hand: After she triggers Zero Degrees, all characters on the team gain 15% Glacies DMG for 40s.
  • VI. Aloof Balance: Increases her Ultimate and enhanced Charged Signature Move DMG by 22%.

Simulation

Simulation is the tab where you slot a character's Implements and Epiphany, Silver Palace's answer to Genshin's Artifacts. Implements come in sets of four with fixed stats, and the single Epiphany carries the substats. Bentham's recommended setup leans into CRIT to power her Glacies damage.

In the Story: Dichotomy Beta

In the Dichotomy Beta story, Miss Bentham introduces herself outside the United Vermentum Works factory as secretary to the general manager of UMI. She has watched the Detective circle the plant's security and sorting apparatus, guesses the trade at once, and warns that UVW is so autonomous that even its own headquarters cannot see inside it.

Plainly hunting the factory's secrets herself, she proposes a deal: hand over the findings and be paid handsomely, along with her friendship. It is a brief but pointed appearance that frames her as a power broker circling the same conspiracy. Read the factory chapter in the Silver Palace story recap.
