Rex: Who Is He, Really?
An unlocked evidence room, a statute recited to a banker, a bribe he overheard. The case for Superintendent Rex, built from what he actually says.
The Scales of Black and White
Superintendent
★★★★★
"Enforcers of the law must show no leniency to maintain its authority." A young superintendent who is quick to step up in times of crisis, with a belief in order that borders on the fanatical. Right and wrong, black and white: the law knows no compromise. To enforce it, one must cast out all notions of mercy, for in his eyes evil has no shades of grey. A recurring figure across Silver Palace trailers, Rex is also connected to the Queen of Hearts fairy tale from 'Alice in Wonderland' (CV: Tachibana Shinnosuke). He is confirmed as a Fulmen character with a Resonance DPS combat style and Hero identity. His confirmed kit runs on a dual truncheon/nunchuck 'Composite Club': Basic Attack combos into pursuit and truncheon-combo hits, Skill 'Adaptive Rule' escalates through the 'Dual Truncheons', 'Extended Truncheon' and 'Nunchucks Law' follow-ups, Ultimate 'Thunderous Judgement' summons his two Doberman police dogs, Radar and Chalky, before a massive lightning strike, Tactical Assault 'Exemplar Enforcer' calls down truncheon lightning strikes on switch-in, and Passive 'Righteous Spirit' stacks ATK off Signature Move hits.
In the Dichotomy Beta story, Rex is the superintendent the Navy sends to oversee the River Constabulary, and his order-first zeal repeatedly puts him at odds with the Detective. He seizes Grimm's body and bars the Detective as a mere civilian, then later names the Detective the prime suspect in the Williams grave-robbing and blocks him from the Cathedral of Illumination. His Ultimate's Doberman police dogs, Radar and Chalky, are at his side in the story too.
He is no villain, though. Once the Detective exposes the investor Daniel Boulden's smuggling scheme, Rex arrests Boulden and finally extends the Detective his respect, clearing the way to work the Cinderellas case openly. Read the full arc in the Silver Palace story recap.
A young man appointed from the Royal Navy to River Constabulary, and the "dreaded" superior that Lorin often mentions.
A stern absolutist, he lives to uphold the law and detests all who go against it. His passion for order and justice borders on the obsessive, frankly.
He's no-nonsense, but it's undeniable that Silvernia needs him.

The gifts Rex prefers, what each Trust level costs, and what it pays out.
Rex prefers Small Weights Set and Enamel Pocket Watch. Each one is worth 100 Trust EXP, so 8 of them cover the 780 Trust EXP between Lv.1 and Lv.5. The Gift Shop charges a flat 10,000 Ounce per gift, which puts a maxed Trust level at 80,000 Ounce.
Preferred gifts
+100 Trust EXP
A set of dumbbells with removable weights: a thoughtful and positive gift.
Being prepared for anything is probably a good idea, in a world where werewolves lurk in the shadows.
+100 Trust EXP
A watch of outstanding craftsmanship. Another half-century could pass, and its hands would still be accurate to the millisecond.
The owners of such watches tend to engrave their name on the back, the signature to a contract with Father Time himself.
Unlocked by raising Trust

Scattered Thoughts
I joined the Constabulary to restore order to the city. But why did you... become a detective?
Inner Feelings
Field work has taught me much more than simulation training ever could. Perhaps one day we can discuss whether the law allows for compassion.
Greeting
Patrols, guard duties, and werewolf defence drills. My duties at the Constabulary are all complete. What additional training remains?
Outside the Detective's Office
We've had a few cases come in lately. I'd like to hear your take on them, Detective.
Casual Chat
Chalky, Radar, sit! Good boys.
Riding: I
Perhaps I should learn how to fire from horseback when I get the time.
Riding: II
Road safety.
Riding: Speeding Up
Faster!
Riding: Sudden Stop
Hold!
Riding: Flying
Neither the Navy nor the Constabulary has adopted this technology... Perhaps designing aerial traffic systems is too difficult.
Lucky Find: I
In principle, I should turn it in to the Constabulary...
Lucky Find: II
By the way, I was once commended just for returning lost property...
Inspect
Observe carefully before making a judgement.
Expose
Deception will not succeed.
Casual Chat
Chalky... Stop eating things on the ground.
Battle Start: I
Your provocation is duly noted.
Battle Start: II
Clearly, there's been a violation here.
Tactical Assault: I
Step back!
Tactical Assault: II
Not under my watch!

This is your final warning.

I am... not strong enough...

You asked for it!

Multiple charges!

Final warning.
Victory: I
Hardly a worthy opponent. Back in the navy, I faced trials far more challenging.
Victory: II
Problems that can be fixed by fists aren't really problems at all.
First Meeting
I'll give my utmost for this joint operation, but I must insist on procedural compliance and proper record-keeping. They're essential, Detective.
Preparation for Action: I
I will show no mercy.
Preparation for Action: II
An opportunity to acquire field combat experience.
Potential Growth
As a commanding officer, it is my duty to set an example for those who follow.
Potential Break
Thanks to your suggestion, I've changed to a lighter weapon. Admittedly, my technique still needs work, but I'm far more proficient than I was.
In Rain
It's pouring. The gangs usually hole up in their hideouts during weather like this. I say it's time we bag them all.
Nighttime
Back in the military academy, I took drills for tracking down targets in the dark. That's why I'm just as efficient at night.
Rainy Night
A stormy night... the sort of weather that breeds crime. We must act. Inaction is complicity.
At the River Constabulary
Several constables have been skiving on patrol lately. High time we restored some discipline to the force.
Hall of the Sentinel Knights
The Knights possess superior equipment and more comprehensive training protocols than the Constabulary... We have much catching up to do.
Cathedral of Illumination
Some seek forgiveness in churches after committing a crime. If they truly feel guilty, they should turn themselves in.
Each Potential Break raises Rex's level cap to the level shown. Taking Rex through all 6 costs 134,400 Ounce plus Rectified Conductive Concentrate, Quick Electrified Core, Crude Metal-Blooded Claw, Intact Metal-Blooded Claw, Rare Metal-Blooded Claw and Heirloom Metal-Blooded Claw. Rex is Fulmen, so the Reactor Attribute material is Rectified Conductive Concentrate.
