Silver Palace Red Rose: The Florian Superstar Theory
Red Rose calls herself a “Florian superstar” in Silver Palace’s first beta. What is Floria, what's it based on, and does it hint the game leaves Silvernia?
The Rose as an Engine of War
Dancer
★★★★★
"The curtain falls; thus have I come to thee. Long parted, how brief shall our meeting be?" Master of the Midsummer Night's Ballroom, she is a dancer who never stops: a hunter, and an assassin. A crimson rose that flourishes in blood-soaked soil, her brilliance shines through a thorny exterior, yet wan moonlight and noxious mists pervade and enshroud her, scarring her very soul. Though red by name, the hand fate has given her is dark and cruel, and only in love or in death shall she be granted forgiveness. A preview build's Character Identity screen confirms her as an Ignis character with a Combat Support combat style and Saviour identity. Her kit runs on a 'Rose Petals' resource that she spends to place exploding 'Rose Blooms': Basic Attack 'Akimbo Overture' is a 5-hit Ignis combo that grants Rose Petals on its 3rd and 5th hits, backed by a two-level Charged Attack and a Pursuit Attack after dodging, Skill 'War of the Roses' consumes a full Rose Petal bar for a flurry of attacks and grants a 'Bright Rhythm' state, during which a held Basic Attack spawns Rose Blooms and raises the whole team's CRIT DMG, Ultimate 'Grand Finale' sends out a circle of thorns for massive Ignis DMG and spawns more Rose Blooms, Tactical Assault 'Epic Debut' swings her in on a vine while firing for Ignis DMG and Rose Petals, and Passive 'Onstage Preparation' raises the whole team's Ignis DMG whenever Rose Blooms explode. An earlier preview build called the Basic Attack 'Prelude by Fire' and used 'Rose Petals' for both the resource and the exploding flowers.
In the Dichotomy Beta story, the Red Rose is a flirtatious assassin tied to House Flora, whose members carry flower titles. Her signature motive, The Bloodbath Mystery, describes Flora's dress hierarchy from the inside (white for children, pink for maidens, red for adulthood, and a hidden black echelon above red that represents the house's sins) and states that she has waited and prepared for that day her entire life. She first appears disguised as a clerk applying to be the Detective's assistant, having bribed the real clerk to swap places purely to size the Detective up. From then on she shadows the case, cutting alarms and finishing off assassins to keep the Detective safe.
The reason is a contract: Ashley has been quietly paying the Red Rose to protect him. When the Detective finally draws her out at a noble ballroom, she keeps her promise and tells Ashley's whole story, from a blood-soaked first kill on a rainy Bridgehead night to the debt of vengeance that drives her. Read the full account in the Silver Palace story recap.
A most mysterious noble who can usually be found in the Midsummer Night's Ballroom. A star dancer of some renown under the spotlight, but also the one pulling the strings behind the scenes...
Appears to run some kind of assassination business, and has close ties with House Flora.
